What pay.wiki is and is not, how we make money, and whose work we use.

1. Information, not advice

pay.wiki is a reference. We are not a payment service provider, bank, e-money institution, adviser or agent of any provider, and we do not process payments or hold funds. Nothing on pay.wiki is financial, legal, tax, regulatory or investment advice. Before you choose a payment method or provider, check the details with the provider and with primary sources.

2. Accuracy and freshness

We cite sources for facts and figures, and we label how certain each figure is (see Data & methodology). Even so, entries can be incomplete or out of date: schemes change rules, providers change coverage and figures are revised. Calendar items marked TBA or provisional are not confirmed by the organiser. Exchange rates are indicative daily rates and must not be used for transactions.

3. How pay.wiki makes money

Reading pay.wiki is free. We earn, or plan to earn, from optional services for businesses:

  • Introductions: a payment provider may pay us a commission or referral fee when a business we introduced, with its consent, signs with it. Businesses do not pay us for introductions.
  • Paid products: the Product growth panel and payment flow licences, when they become paid.

Rules we follow:

  • No one can pay to be listed, to be ranked higher, or to change what an entry says. We change entries only on sourced evidence, whoever asks.
  • Commissions do not decide which providers we suggest. Fit with your methods and markets does.
  • Sponsored content, if we ever publish any, will be clearly labelled "Sponsored".

Our introduction partners: None yet.

4. Trade marks and logos

Names, logos and brand marks of payment methods, card schemes, banks, providers and other companies belong to their owners. We show them only to identify the method or institution described. Their appearance does not mean that the owner endorses pay.wiki or is affiliated with us. Owners can ask for corrections or removal at admin@pay.wiki.

5. Image credits

Banknote and coin images come from Wikimedia Commons. Each image is credited next to it with its file name, author and licence: CC BY-SA 4.0 or public domain. You may reuse those images under their own licence; our licence terms do not apply to them. Banknote designs may also be subject to the issuing central bank's reproduction rules.

6. Data credits

  • Exchange rates: Rates By Exchange Rate API. Indicative rates, refreshed daily; not for redistribution.
  • Maps: amCharts 5 map geometry and charts, used under the amCharts free licence with attribution.
  • Country flags: country-flag-icons (MIT licence).
  • Each entry lists the sources behind its facts and figures.

7. Software and fonts

pay.wiki is built with Next.js, React and Supabase. Fonts: Archivo, Newsreader and JetBrains Mono, under the SIL Open Font Licence 1.1. Icons: Lucide (ISC licence). Charts and maps: amCharts 5 and d3 (ISC licence).

We link to sources and providers so you can check our work. We are not responsible for the content or availability of other websites.

9. Report a problem

For a factual error, use "Suggest an edit" on the entry or write to support@pay.wiki. For rights, trade mark or legal questions, write to admin@pay.wiki.
