What changed

Payoneer has made its Checkout product, which runs on Stripe's payment infrastructure, available to eligible Singapore-registered businesses. The launch was reported by The Paypers on 16 October. It lets merchants with their own online stores accept payments from customers abroad, including by card and digital wallet, and then manage the proceeds in several currencies inside their Payoneer accounts. The product is aimed at established brands that already sell on marketplaces such as Shopee, Lazada and Amazon and now want to build direct-to-consumer channels. Payoneer and Stripe first announced their checkout partnership in August 2025, with the rollout starting in Asia Pacific. Singapore is now one of the markets where it is live. Two early users are named. South Korean skincare brand COSRX reported a higher payment approval rate on its direct store, and Dr. Melaxin, which has local entities in markets including the US and Hong Kong, said approval rates improved and its cross-border operations became simpler. Neither company gave figures, and the report included no pricing. The launch matters for Southeast Asian sellers moving off marketplaces, where the platform handles payments for them. On their own sites they need acceptance for foreign cards and wallets, plus a way to hold and convert several currencies. Bundling Stripe acceptance with Payoneer's multi-currency balances gives them one provider for both jobs, but it also concentrates acceptance, settlement and FX with a single intermediary.

What merchants must do

If you are a Singapore brand moving to direct sales, ask Payoneer for its Checkout pricing, FX margins and payout times and compare them with a direct Stripe account. Check which wallets and local methods are enabled for your main buyer markets before switching. Track approval rates by card country after go-live to test the improvement claims.
