Barcode-based bank slip that lets consumers (including the unbanked) pay for online purchases in cash at banks, ATMs or convenience stores. Operator: FEBRABAN / Brazilian banks (regulated rail). Est. users: ~tens of millions of users; ~19% of e-commerce payments (2025).
Structurally displaced by Pix since 2020 for online payments. Pix reached 30.1bn transactions in 2025 (+20% YoY) while boleto is no longer separately reported by Febraban.
